One of the goals of BirdNET-Cloud has always been to make getting started as simple as possible. Whether you're building your very first wildlife listening station or upgrading from an existing BirdNET-Pi installation, we've created a complete step-by-step installation guide to walk you through the entire process.

Our guide takes you from a blank Raspberry Pi to a fully operational BirdNET-Cloud station. We'll show you how to prepare your microSD card, configure your Raspberry Pi, connect to it over your network, install the BirdNET-Cloud software, and register your station with your free BirdNET-Cloud account.

We've also included instructions for both Windows and macOS users. Windows users will use PuTTY for SSH, while macOS users can connect using the built-in Terminal application. If you can download software and copy a few commands, you can build your own station!

If you're already running BirdNET-Pi, we've got you covered there too. BirdNET-Cloud includes a simple migration path that lets you keep your existing Raspberry Pi hardware while moving your detections into the cloud, preserving your listening history and giving you access to a modern dashboard that you can view from anywhere.
